Erling Haaland transfer update
Chelsea are now unlikely to complete the signing of Borussia Dortmund star Erling Braut Haaland this summer, according to a report.
The 20-year-old Norwegian has become one of the world’s most sought-after strikers, with the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United, Real Madrid and Barcelona also monitoring his situation.
However, according to Sky Sports News in Germany, Dortmund do not want to sell Haaland this summer, after allowing Jadon Sancho to complete his £73m move to Manchester United.
The report also states that Haaland’s agent Mino Raiola is asking for around £34.2m in commission as part of any deal that would see the striker depart the German outfit.
Thomas Tuchel is keen to recruit a new number nine this summer and although Haaland remains his number one target, the Blues have identified Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane and Inter Milan’s Romelu Lukaku as possible alternatives.
Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich – who spent over £200m in last summer’s transfer window on the likes of Timo Werner, Kai Havertz and Ben Chilwell – is set to provide more funds for Tuchel to help strengthen his squad further.
Haaland made 41 appearances across all competitions for Dortmund during the 2020-21 campaign, scoring 41 goals and providing 12 assists.
Chelsea have made efforts over the past 18 months or so to get on better terms with Haaland’s agent Mino Raiola, who the west London club felt was a major factor in Manchester United beating them to Romelu Lukaku’s signature in 2017.
Haaland’s wages would comfortably beat Kante’s who is sitting on around £290,000 a week at Chelsea.
Giroud to AC Milan
Olivier Giroud is expected to complete a move to AC Milan on Friday. Deal worth up to €3M including add-ons.
Chelsea eye Kurt Zouma, Gianluca Mancini swap deal
Chelsea are reportedly considering a potential swap deal that would see Kurt Zouma leave the club in exchange for Roma’s Gianluca Mancini.
The Blues are keen to bolster their squad this summer, as they aim to challenge for the Premier League title, and a central defender is one position they will look to target.
Roma, meanwhile, are hoping to raise funds from player sales and Mancini is one name who could be shown the exit door.
According to Il Romanista, Chelsea are interested in signing the 25-year-old, who has three years remaining on his current contract.
Roma value Mancini at around £27m, though Blues director Marina Granovskaia is hoping to land the defender for less and is even willing to negotiate a swap deal with another player.
Frenchman Zouma is understood to be the most likely player used in any potential trade with Mancini, as well as an added cash bonuses.
Zouma made 36 appearances for Chelsea across all competitions, scoring five times in the Premier League, though he only featured once in the knockout stages of the Champions League under Thomas Tuchel.
