Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel is desperate for the Blues to move for Erling Braut Haaland ‘immediately’, according to a report.
Speculation surrounding the Norwegian’s future has cooled in recent weeks, as Borussia Dortmund are confident that they can retain his services for another 12 months.
Haaland’s £68m release clause will become active next summer, but Chelsea are thought to be readying a mammoth £150m offer as they seek to win the race for his signature in the coming weeks.
According to German outlet Bild, Tuchel wants Chelsea to go all out in their efforts to sign Haaland in the current window, but a transfer ahead of the 2021-22 season is still ‘extremely unlikely’.
Real Madrid and Manchester United also continue to be linked with a swoop for Haaland, but the Red Devils will reportedly not move for a new striker this summer after tying Edinson Cavani down for another year.
Haaland’s existing deal with Dortmund does not expire until 2024, and he struck 41 goals in as many matches for BVB across all competitions last term.
Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Braut Haaland ‘open to £150m Chelsea switch’
Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Braut Haaland is supposedly happy to complete a move to Chelsea, should the Blues stump up BVB’s asking price.
Speculation surrounding the 20-year-old’s future has quietened in recent weeks, with Dortmund supposedly confident that they will retain his services for another 12 months.
Chelsea and other interested clubs could be set for an intense battle in 2022 when his £68m release clause activates, but Thomas Tuchel’s side are said to be lining up a mammoth offer of £150m in the current transfer window.
According to 90Min, the Norway international would be keen to make the switch to Stamford Bridge if a deal can be reached between the two clubs, as Chelsea do not want to battle with the likes of Real Madrid and Manchester United for his signature next year.
The report adds that Dortmund have already braced themselves for a nine-figure offer from Chelsea, who are still hopeful of striking a deal for a fee closer to £135m.
Haaland ended the 2020-21 season with 41 goals and 12 assists to his name from 41 appearances in all competitions, and his Dortmund deal runs for another three years.
